Christine M. McCarthy, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS), has announced her decision to take a family medical leave of absence, stepping down from her current position. The announcement was made by Bob Iger, Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company. Effective July 1, Kevin Lansberry, a seasoned Disney executive currently serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, will assume the role of Interim CFO during McCarthy’s leave.

Having dedicated 23 years to The Walt Disney Company, McCarthy has played a vital role, making significant contributions to the company’s financial landscape. While on medical leave, McCarthy will continue to provide strategic guidance to the company and assist in the identification and onboarding of a long-term successor for a seamless transition.

Kevin Lansberry, with over three decades of experience with the company, will serve as Interim CFO during the comprehensive search for internal and external candidates to find a permanent replacement. Lansberry’s extensive experience, particularly as CFO at Disney’s largest business segment since 2017, has earned him the trust of Bob Iger. In his role, Lansberry will oversee the company’s global finance organization, covering critical areas such as corporate alliances, real estate, strategy, technology, financial planning, global standards, security, investor relations, risk management, tax, and treasury. The transition aims to maintain the company’s financial stability and strategic direction during this period of change.
