Gunter Nezhoda, a frequent and well-liked competitive bidder on the long-standing A&E program Storage Wars, passed away on Tuesday in Utah at the age of 67, six months after being diagnosed with lung cancer. The news of his passing was shared in an Instagram video by his son Rene Nezhoda.

In the video, Rene Nezhoda stated that his father had been a smoker for thirty years, and while the family had remained optimistic throughout the past six months, his father’s health had recently deteriorated to a point where medical professionals were unable to do anything further. He revealed that his father had passed away peacefully in his sleep, with “no more pain.”

Rene Nezhoda also shared that his father was a beloved figure among the Storage Wars community, stating that he was one of the few individuals on the show who never received any negative feedback from viewers. Storage Wars centers on the competitive purchasing of abandoned storage units by professional buyers, often sight-unseen.

Gunter Nezhoda was a recurring buyer on the program from 2015 to 2019. Born in Austria and residing in Las Vegas, he was also a photographer, bass guitar player, and occasional actor, appearing in films such as Do Not Disturb (2014) and The Haunting at Death Valley Junction (2020).
