Ron Harper Obituary – Death: ‘Generations,’ ‘Another World’ & ‘Planet Of The Apes’ Actor Passed Away At 91

Ron Harper, a veteran actor known for his roles in television classics such as Generations, Planet of the Apes, Land of the Lost, and Another World, passed away on March 21 due to natural causes in West Hills, CA. He was 91.

His daughter, Nicole Longeuay, confirmed his passing to The Hollywood Reporter.

Born in Pennsylvania, Harper pursued his education at Princeton and later served in the U.S. Navy before venturing into acting. He began his career in New York City, where he understudied for Paul Newman in Sweet Bird of Youth on Broadway. Eventually, he transitioned to television and moved to Los Angeles, making his debut in NBC’s Tales of Wells Fargo in 1960. His talent earned him roles in various shows including Wagon Train, Shotgun Slade, and 87th Precinct, where he portrayed Det. Bert Kling in multiple episodes.

Harper also had recurring roles in series like Garrison’s Gorillas, Where the Heart Is, and Planet of the Apes.

His contributions to daytime dramas were noteworthy. In 1980, he joined Another World as Taylor Holloway, followed by roles in Loving as Charles Hartman three years later, and as Peter Whitmore in Generations starting from 1990.

Among his more recent works, Harper appeared in Pearl Harbor and portrayed a chairman in The West Wing.
