Jeffrey Vandergrift, a beloved radio host and DJ known as DJ JV in San Francisco, has been confirmed dead after he went missing last month. The medical examiner identified a body found in San Francisco Bay near Pier 39 as the 55-year-old Vandergrift, and the police do not suspect foul play.
A statement released by Wild 94.9, the radio station where Vandergrift worked, expressed their sadness and confirmed the news of his death. Vandergrift’s disappearance had captured the attention of the public, particularly his loyal fan base that he built over a successful three-decade radio career.
Earlier this month, Vandergrift’s wife Natasha expressed her gratitude to i-HeartRadio and its listeners for their support and confirmed that they had discovered personal information that led them to believe Vandergrift would not be returning.
Vandergrift had previously revealed his diagnosis of Lyme disease and spoke openly about his struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts. He also shared that his illness had gone undiagnosed for an extended period before the Lyme diagnosis.
