In a recent development, two teenagers who were caught on video intentionally striking 64-year-old retired police chief Adreas Probst, causing his rear tires to be sent flying, will face trial as adults, as ruled by a judge. Yesterday, Jesus Ayala, aged 18, and Jzamir Keys, aged 16, were remanded to the Clark County Detention Center by order of a Family Court judge. The hearings for both individuals were conducted separately, according to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office.

Ayala’s mother has shared her thoughts on her son, the alleged perpetrator of this heinous crime, suggesting that Ayala may never find absolution for his actions. She remarked, “I don’t know why he did it. I don’t know if God can forgive this.” During the hearing, two of Key’s relatives, who were present, wept as the presiding officer, Timothy Andrews, referred the case to the Justice Court.

The situation mirrors Ayala’s hearing, where a woman, who chose to remain anonymous, concealed her face as tears flowed from her eyes when the hearing director, Randall Foreman, announced that the case would proceed to the Justice Court. Both defendants are scheduled to appear in a Las Vegas court later today, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Ayala’s mother communicated through a text message to 8NewsNow, stating, “My son’s perspective is the ‘truth’ and not the inaccuracies the media is trying to portray.”

The incident unfolded when a passenger in the car encouraged Ayala to “hit him,” which he did without hesitation. The teenager rammed his 2016 Hyundai Elantra into the rear wheel of Andreas’ bicycle, causing the bike to be propelled past the car. Passersby, mostly teenagers, captured footage of the 64-year-old retired police officer lying injured and contorted on the ground. Both teenagers now face multiple charges, including murder with a deadly weapon, assault, and attempted murder, according to an assistant district attorney who spoke during the hearing.

Ayala, who was 17 at the time of the murder charge, faces even more severe charges, including leaving the accident scene, as well as multiple counts of theft and burglary.

Detective Watson mentioned that Ayala also has another case pending in juvenile court, and there is a possibility of him being charged as an adult. The specific charges in that case are not yet clear.

The video came to the attention of the police last month when a student showed it to a school resource officer, leading to the reclassification of Andreas’ death as a homicide, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
