The teenager rammed his 2016 Hyundai Elantra into the rear wheel of Andreas’ bicycle, causing the bike to be propelled past the car. Passersby, mostly teenagers, captured footage of the 64-year-old retired police officer lying injured and contorted on the ground. Both teenagers now face multiple charges, including murder with a deadly weapon, assault, and attempted murder, according to an assistant district attorney who spoke during the hearing.

Ayala, who was 17 at the time of the murder charge, faces even more severe charges, including leaving the accident scene, as well as multiple counts of theft and burglary.
