DJ Khaled, born Khaled Mohammed Khaled on November 26, 1975, is an American record executive, rapper, DJ, and record producer. He gained recognition in the 1990s as a radio host on 99 Jamz radio station and furthered his fame by working with the hip-hop group, Terror Squad, as a DJ for their live performances. After receiving production credits for their material, Khaled released his first album, Listennn… the Album, in 2006, which went gold. He subsequently released We the Best (2007), containing the popular single “I’m So Hood”, and founded his own record label, We the Best Music Group, releasing his next two albums, We Global (2008) and Victory (2010). Both albums made it to the top ten on the US Billboard 200 chart, with the latter featuring the single “All I Do Is Win”, which went triple platinum.

Khaled’s fifth studio album, We the Best Forever (2011), also performed well commercially, and the single “I’m on One” helped expand his fame internationally. He continued to release successful albums, with Kiss the Ring (2012) and Suffering from Success (2013) both reaching the top ten of the Billboard 200. In 2015, Khaled gained global attention as a media personality through his social media presence. This led to the release of his ninth studio album, Major Key (2016), which debuted on the Billboard 200, won a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album, and went Gold.

Khaled’s tenth studio album, Grateful (2017), featured the hit singles “I’m the One” and “Wild Thoughts”, which peaked at No. 1 and No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 respectively. The album topped the Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum. His eleventh album, Father of Asahd, was released in 2019 and reached the second spot on the Billboard 200. The song “Higher” from the album won Best Rap/Sung Performance at the 62nd Grammy Awards, Khaled’s first Grammy win. In addition to music, Khaled is a successful author, with his book, The Keys, being a New York Times bestseller. He has also appeared in Spike Lee’s Shapeshifter (2019) and the movie Bad Boys (2020). Khaled’s twelfth self-titled album is set to be released in 2021.
