Madonna High School’s Andrea Alimario and Oak Glen High School’s Ethan Travis, both seniors, have earned recognition with West Virginia State Second Team All-State honors for their outstanding performances in high school basketball.

Andrea Alimario excelled in the Women’s A race, showcasing her skills on the court. She averaged an impressive 16.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Her shooting percentages were also remarkable, with a 42 percent field goal rate (including 34 percent from 3-point range) and a 72 percent success rate from the free-throw line. Beyond her athletic achievements, Alimario’s character and dedication to her community also stood out. She was not only a co-captain on the field but also excelled academically. Her involvement with non-profit organizations and active participation in her church demonstrated her commitment to making a positive impact. Madonna head coach Rodney Bonetti expressed great pride in Andrea’s accomplishments, emphasizing that this recognition is a testament to her excellence both as a player and as a person. Her dedication to improving her skills year-round and her basketball IQ were praised by the coaching staff.

In addition to Andrea Alimario’s recognition, Madonna’s Rachel Bonetti and Kennedy Martin received honorable mentions.

Turning to the Class A boys, Oak Glen High School’s Gavin Dietrich and Evan Boniti earned honorable mentions for their contributions on the basketball court.

Ethan Travis, representing Oak Glen High School, secured a spot on the second team in the boys Class AA category. His senior season was marked by impressive statistics, averaging 18.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. Travis’s dedication to improvement was evident, particularly in his three-point shooting, which he honed during the offseason. His energy on the court, especially in rebounding, was highlighted by Oak Glen head coach Jerry Everly. Standing at 6 feet 3 inches, Travis’s ability to contribute in multiple aspects of the game made him a valuable asset to the team.

Sean Smith of the Golden Bears received an honorable mention, as did Weir High’s Luka Haught and Reed Reitter in this category.

In the AA girls division, Oak Glen’s Maggie Kovalcik and Alexa Andrews, along with Weir High’s Sophia Mikula, received honorable mentions for their achievements in high school basketball.
