Janine Shalom, a veteran theater publicist, has passed away at the age of 63. Shalom served as the director of theater PR at Premier for 17 years, where she worked on high-profile productions such as Hamilton, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and Les Misérables. She also spent time at the Almeida Theatre in north London and The National Theatre. Following the announcement of her death on March 25, figures from the theater world paid tribute to Shalom’s contributions. In a statement on Premier’s website, Shalom was described as a titan in the industry, and her unique vigour, tenacity, and passion were praised. Producer Sonia Friedman, who worked with Shalom on numerous productions, including the Cursed Child, tweeted that the veteran publicist was a loyal, devoted, deeply committed colleague, and a wonderful friend.
