Rina Sawayama leaked on John Wick: Chapter 4 full reddit video

A few years ago, Rina Sawayama auditioned for The Matrix opposite Keanu Reeves. While she didn’t get the part, the pop star actress ended up getting another Reeves movie: the neon-lit action-thriller John Wick: Chapter 4 (out now). She plays Akira, a bow-wielding assassin who moonlights as a hotel concierge. “It was definitely meant to be,” Sawayama said with a laugh. “It’s really crazy — I’m honored that it’s my first film.”

Akira and her father Shimazu Koji (Hiroyuki Sanada) join forces with John Wick at the start of the sequel to help fend off assassins from killing him. Sawayama learned archery, knife fights and hand-to-hand combat for her stunning scenes, which were shot entirely at night over five weeks.

“It’s a mental challenge to get your body to do stunts at 2 a.m. without getting tired,” Sawayama said. “I don’t have a problem learning the choreography, but it’s about making it look powerful. Convincing the audience that you’re fighting the hunk and that you even have a chance—it’s hard.”

John Wick directors Chad Stahelski and Reeves called Zee out of the blue after seeing their music videos for XS and Bad Friend Shan said she could potentially star in the film. Reeves “knew it was my first movie and cared a lot about me,” Sawayama said. “I held back the first week and he made sure I had everything that could help me get better.”

Born in Niigata, Japan, Sawayama moved to London at the age of 5. Her mother enrolled her in weekend drama classes to help her learn English and overcome her shyness. “It really helped me get out of trouble,” recalls Sawayama.
