Satish Kaushik Obituary – Death: Indian actor, director, producer, comedian Cause Of Death

Satish Kaushik, who was born on April 13, 1956 in Mahendragarh, Haryana, graduated from Kirori Mal College, Delhi in 1972. He later became a graduate of the Indian National Institute of Drama and the School of Film and Television.

Unfortunately, Satish Kaushik passed away. As a film actor, he was widely recognized for his memorable role as “The Calendar” in the popular film “Mr. India”. He also portrayed Pappu Pager in “Deewana Mastana” and Chanu Ahmed in the British film “Brick Lane” (2007). He won the Filmfare Award for Best Comedy Actor twice, in 1990 for “Ram Lakhan” and in 1997 for “Saajan Chale Sasural”.

As a theatrical actor, he was best known for his performance as “Which” in the Hindi drama “Salesman Ramlal”, which was based on Arthur Miller’s “Death of a Salesman”. He was also the writer of the dialogue for Kundan Shah’s classic comedy “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron” (1983).

Satish Kaushik directed several films during his career, including “Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja” (1993) starring Sridevi and “Prem” (1995) which marked Tabu’s debut, but both films were box office disasters. He finally achieved success in 1999 with “Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain”.

Apart from acting and directing, Satish Kaushik co-authored and hosted the TV countdown show “Philips Top 10”, which won him a Screen Videocon Award. In 2005, he directed “Vaada” starring Arjun Rampal, Amisha Patel, and Zayed Khan.

In 2007, Satish Kaushik founded a film production company named Karol Bagh Productions with his NSD collaborator Anupam Kher, and the first film produced under this banner was “Teree Sang”, which was also directed by Kaushik. He was committed to promoting the film industry in Haryana and announced plans to produce five films there.

Satish Kaushik played the lead role of Nawaab Jung Bahadur in the SAB TV show “The Great Indian Family Drama” produced by Contiloe Productions. He had also decided to make a sequel to his hit film “Tere Naam” (2003) and played the character of Tayaji in the movie “Udta Punjab” (2016).

Before his unfortunate demise, Satish Kaushik was working on a film based on the life of Tansen, one of the Navaratnas at the court of Akbar the Great. The film was produced by Rajshri Productions, starred Abhishek Bachchan as Tansen, and had a soundtrack composed by Ravindra Jain. The script was being finalized at the time.
