Ja Morant Viral video leaked on twitter, shows a gun in a video
Yes, Morant will be out of the Memphis Grizzlies for at least the next two games, the team said Saturday, shortly after the NBA began investigating the guard’s social media posts in which he livestreamed himself , which appeared to be a gun stopped a nightclub.
The video, which was streamed by Morant to his Instagram page, was not archived after he stopped streaming. On Friday night, the Grizzlies play in Denver; they fly to Los Angeles on Saturday to play the Clippers on Sunday and the Lakers on Tuesday.
“We are aware of and are investigating social media posts involving Ja Morant,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass said Saturday.
Morant could be fined or suspended if the league finds any wrongdoing. According to the Grizzlies, Morant will not play again until Thursday at home against the Golden State Warriors. It’s unclear if he will join the Grizzlies for Los Angeles.
Memphis is currently No. 2 in the West, led by Morant, a two-time All-Star averaging 27.1 points and 8.2 assists per game.
This is at least the second time Morant has been the subject of a league investigation in recent weeks. Morant is under investigation by the league for his behavior following the Jan. 29 incident in Memphis, which he says resulted in a friend of his being banned from home games for a year.
The incident happened after a game against the Indiana Pacers; the Indianapolis Star and USA Today reported, citing unnamed sources, that several Pacers members saw a red dot aimed at them , while The Athletic reported that a Pacers guard believed the laser was attached to the weapon. The NBA confirmed that unnamed individuals were barred from the arena, but said its investigation found no evidence that anyone had been threatened with a firearm.
Morant responded to the incident on Twitter, saying the reports “painted a negative image of me and my family. And banned my brother from home games for a year. Unbelievable.” In the video, there was barking between the Pacers players and Morant’s friend, who was sitting courtside. Morant’s close friend, Wormster Parker, was escorted out of the arena when a Pacers bench yelled in Parker’s direction.
Parker and Morant are also embroiled in a civil lawsuit following an incident at Morant’s home last summer, in which a 17-year-old claims they beat him. The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office said in January that it was “aware of the incident and, after careful review of the facts, determined that there was insufficient evidence to proceed with the case.”
In the 2019 NBA Draft, Morant became a full-fledged superstar as the second pick. His $194 million extension with the Grizzlies starts next season and increases to about $230 million if he makes the All-NBA team this season.
He is also a sought-after spokesperson. For Christmas, Nike unveiled Morant’s first signature shoe, which is expected to release in the next few weeks. Earlier this week, Powerade announced a multi-year endorsement deal with Morant.
On the same day that the Powerade deal was revealed, The Washington Post published a report based on surviving police records detailing how Morant and some associates were “accused of threatening and even violent behaviour,” the paper said.
